ABOUT POSTNATAL DEPRESSION All other risk factors being equal, a woman who has fully recovered from PND before becoming pregnant again is less likely to develop PND again than is a woman who becomes pregnant before she fully recovers. A woman who has recovered from PND will be at higher risk of developing PND after a subsequent baby than will a woman who has never had PND. Many women have subsequent babies without again developing PND. If PND has not been treated, or if treatment has not been completed, before a woman becomes pregnant again, the depression is likely to continue into the next pregnancy, and may get worse. |
